Manning Park 2020

Lightning Lake and Cold Stream, Manning

June 25th to the 29th

The first time many of us were out and about in the summer of 2020 and in a way a non-ski club event, as we were actually celebrating Bruce Chadwick's official retirement, saw us camp at Lightning Lake in Manning Provincial Park on our first night camping.

On the way up, we found that some communities were much more friendly than others, often closing themselves off to the world outside in their fears over any stranger who might wander into their community.

Shannon, using her GPS application discovers a hidden cashe deep in the forest.  Another Geocache discovered and recorded in her global trek to seek out these quaint items.

The following day, we moved our RV units down to Cold Stream where the rest of the gang showed up on the Friday.  With sun and a shower or two, we took the time to explore the hiking trails and made our way over to the Manning Park Lodge.

An official retirement party c/w cards and gifts were held for Bruce; nightly campfires and afternoon cocktail hours were followed by dinners cooked mainly on the outdoor grills.  Joseph made us breakfast on the Saturday morning, and Sven and Shannon practiced the Ukuleles.

Iain managed to find a tree to plug in his cell phone, a true wonder of nature or???

This provincial park had facilities which even welcomed campers with tents, a rarity this year due to the pandemic shut down.

Certainly a lovely place to just put your feet up and enjoy the great outdoors.
We hope to see many more out camping next year..
